My research activity aims to study by a multidisciplinary approach psychophysics, oculomotricity, neuroimaging, neuropsychology, ophthalmology the neurocognitive mechanisms of visual perception. At a theoretical level, it allows me to propose a neurocognitive model of scene recognition, which integrates a retinotopic and hemispheric processing of spatial frequencies, and considers the fundamental role of peripheral vision.
This research leads to clinical applications and perspectives of valorization in the field of diagnosis. For example, in ophthalmological diseases, such as AMD or glaucoma, we show that retinal damage is accompanied by functional brain changes inducing visual deficits in areas of the visual field considered as intact by perimetry of the visual field. Photographs were taken with our personal digital cameras. Influence of peripheral vision on object categorization in central vision.

Dating violence DV is a widespread social issue that has numerous deleterious repercussions on youths’ health. Family and peer risk factors for DV have been widely studied, but with inconsistent methodologies, which complicates global comprehension of the phenomenon. Protective factors, although understudied, constitutes a promising line of research for prevention. To date, there is no comprehensive quantitative review attempting to summarize knowledge on both family and peer factors that increase or decrease the risk for adolescents and emerging adults DV victimization.
The current meta-analysis draws on 87 studies with a total sample of , adolescents and young adults to examine effect sizes of the association between various family and peer correlates of DV victimization. With few exceptions, forms of DV psychological, physical, and sexual , gender, and age did not moderate the strength of these associations. In addition, no difference was found between the magnitude of family and peer factors’ effect sizes, suggesting that these determinants are equally important in predicting DV.
The current results provide future directions for examining relations between risk and protective factors for DV and indicate that both peers and family should be part of the development of efficient prevention options. Keywords: child maltreatment; family; meta-analysis; peers; protective factors; risk factors; support.
Abstract Dating violence DV is a widespread social issue that has numerous deleterious repercussions on youths’ health.

The characteristics of dice found in archaeological contexts assist in the understanding of historical processes and human behavior. As well, dice have been used to decipher Etruscan words and may identify novice and expert dice makers in the archaeological record. The shape and size of the dots and dice cubes further inform the distinctive appearance of dice in medieval versus Roman times. Yet, a few notable studies have already demonstrated that dice can reveal important historical and culturally specific information.
Below, we highlight attributes of dice to illustrate their potential in archaeological analyses. Two configurations have shown to be historically significant 2. A quick calculation reveals that thirty different configurations are possible, though half of these are mirror images of one another where the same sets of numbers are opposite one another, but two have been transposed. As discussed below, all of the fifteen configurations are found in ancient dice, but only a small subset dominates the majority of known examples.
The six, three and two need to be applied in a specific direction in relation to each other. For instance, the three may be applied from top left to bottom right or from top right to bottom left in relation to the other numbers on the die see fig. The orientation of dice pips has been noted in several other studies 3 , but the historical relevance remains unclear.
Note that in these examples the orientation refers to a diagonal three. Three pips can also be placed orthogonally, or as the nodes of a triangle.
